I may not know all the ins and outs of the LVEC but I sure can hell count. They say they will make 600 parkingspots and can use 2,000 more or so located downtown. Well please some one give Mr H. Rosen's head a shake.

Great you can park everyone that wants to walk at least 5 to 10 city block's to go and see a concert at the LVEC. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... last time I looked most entertainment centres had ample FREE parking spaces withing walking distance or included in the building. Maybe the Springers or Rosen's family would be so generous to sell thier land (for a profit of course) to the city for more parking.

But our "Fearfull leader" says that we can use downtown parking for events.well you have 3 options

option 1) Run the LVEC only from the hours of 6pm to 6 am, so as the workers downtown can have what is already scarse parking during the day( By the way if you do that, how is the downtown business going to benefit if they are closed during those hours of the LVEC is open.............)

option 2) which seems to me how this city counsel works....place construction signs up around a 10 city block area and when all tenants and store owners loss thier businesses due to construction delays they will be force to sell to the city (for a loss or even better to the Springers and Rosen's for a loss and then they can sell it to the city for profit). that solves the parking lot problem.....

Or another option is when ever a great concert of more then 70 people(Wayne Newton ) happens, the city will enforce that all downtown workers not be allowed to park downtown but to travel on the city bus for an hr or two both ways (it takes up to 1&1/2 hrs to travel from one side of our city to the other on our transit) This is so that all those downtown parking spots will be available for the LVEC. And while the people are in the LVEC they will be snug knowing that the concert cannot run more then 2 hrs or they all will have to get up at once and leave to go 5 to 10 blocks away to put money in the meters. At least we know that those veterns will have to pay...heavens forbid if we give any free to the same peopel that gave us so much without even debating it.

I would like to add that at least with the way the city handles constuction and the delays and cost overuns....not only will my kids not see the LVEC but my grand kids may just see the opening and can expect thier grand kids to pay for it.

Also this is to Mr Harvey Rosen.there is a saying "where there is smoke there is fire"...and with all the allegations and precived conflicts. How can you go to the papers and say you have no conflict of interst involving the area you want the LVEC to go.......for christ sake your family owns one side and your friends the Springers own the other...................let me guess the LVEC is to be called The SPRINGER Dome.

The public sees you as a Mayor that is to out of touch with the working people of this city and too high and mighty to even listen to us to learn that many people while they agree we need a centre..not where your family and friends want it.

Hi everyone, I just received this e-mail and I thought I might share it with you all. This is getting realllllllllllllly exciting when people create a taxpayers rebellion.

The flyer for the meeting is as follows.

NOTICE

KINGSTON MUNICIPAL VOTERS

OPEN MEETING

MEMORAL HALL, CITY HALL

SEPTEMBER 14th 2005 7.00 PM

This is an open invitation to all concerned, aggravated and alienated Taxpayers in the City of Kingston.

PURPOSE

To establish a City wide Taxpayers organization

COMMENTS,

Never in the history of Kingston has it been more important that taxpayers rise up and take back ownership of the Municipal Council. Almost everything of significance that Council has touched has turned into either a planning disaster, community enragement, a major tax increase, or another hand-out to developers and friends

The concerns and needs of the Residents of Kingston are being ignored in deference to a greedy segment of the business community. Taxpayers must be able to make their positions on major issues, known through a coordinated Taxpayers Organization.

United, our Electoral District voices will be very meaningful. Individually, our Electoral District voices are lost in the noise of the wind.

A strong attendance and participation of voters from all of the 12 Electoral Districts is highly desirable

Mark the date on your calendar now, don’t miss this meeting.

For more information, call Howard Stone , 544-8100. I use call display and your calls will be returned.
