Public investments can be better spent
by Marc V. Levine and Michael Rosen
The article "Public investments can be better spent", which is about Milwaukee's "PabstCity" devlopment has some direct parallels to the proposed LVEC development here in Kingston.
"The "opportunity cost" of subsidizing PabstCity, therefore, is not simply the considerable financial cost of the public subsidies but the foregone benefits from the other ways this money could be spent: on infrastructure, schools or subsidies for export-oriented businesses that create family-supporting jobs, all investments that would do substantially more to promote economic development in Milwaukee than this misguided subsidy of an entertainment venue."
