As our community discusses the importance of saving of the Memorial Centre and the surrounding parklands, would it be too much to ask the City of Kingston to simply keep the space clean and graffiti free?

The accumulation of graffiti on the northern reviewing stands is simply a case of neglect. One wonders if any city councillors or senior staff even visit the Memorial Centre to see the evidence of neglect.

Perhaps it only serve as an excuse, just as it has for the Anglin Bay site, to turn the land over for some other use that fits the mandate of council.

The building "problems" at the Memorial Centre often seem to come down to poor maintenance and repair over a large number of years. If the City of Kingston cannot be bothered to remove extensive areas of graffiti from the Memorial Centre, why would they take any better care of a shiny new LVEC?

The fall 'Fair' is a mess - A broken down amusement park. As a show piece for agriculture it is not a success. The ploughing match which at least takes place in agricultural surroundings is a better show case. Move it to a rural area and give kids a sense of where the cows come from. Then you can give them a ride on the ferris wheel. I think the Agricultural Group is suffering from hardening of the arteries. At least now you can say that the surroundings reflect the fair - or the other way around.

I agree with you fully Vallley. Of course maybe this was done so that Council's mandate would be fulfilled.
