From the Whig-Standard (September 15, 2004):
By spending more, de Mora said Kingston could build an arena that would identify the city.
He cited the opera house in Sydney, Australia, as an example.
Everytime de Mora brings this up, I can't help but chuckle. Who is he trying to kid?!

Julian Brown's aarticle is fascinating. The' given' of the LVEC design is that it has to encompass a hockey rink. I think Queen's said that their new ice surface will be 100 x 200 meters. It would be of immense help if someone could superimpose these dimensions (after checking them) on the proposed site. While a wonderful design is not, I think, impossible under these circustances, if will be difficult indeed. Note that Queen's proposes a second storey on their arena to provide competitive track facilities.

Well, we've done that, if you'd like to look here:

... according to the specs in the Mayor's Task Force Report on the LVEC.
It's quite hilarious! :-D
