A statement by Harvey Rosen on announcing his candidacy for Mayor of Kingston

City Hall, September 19, 2003

"In addition to the Block D site, there are many other opportunities in waterfront development and revitalization as well."

what are you getting at, Derek? That Block D wasn't a priority or that the mayor had an agenda?

That the mayor has an agenda. Or to be perfectly blunt, that the plan was to locate the LVEC at Anglin Bay all along.

O.k, but is this wrong? Does he own that land, or does his family? I suppose they own the lands nearby for certain

Is this wrong? Well, that depends on how you look at it.

Was the whole LVEC consultation process for real or just a show?

Are the motives to have the LVEC located on the waterfront based on the preceived benefits of that location or are there other considerations/agendas?

Why did the Mayor seek to have changes made to the path of the Wellington Street extention, a move that seemingly favours Rosen Fuels and adjoining properties?

And why haven't the Springers come forward with any announcements about how they will support the LVEC? What happened to their original plan? What were they willing to put forward to pay for a new centre? This is keeping in mind that Springer was a Rosen supporter.

I don't subscribe to conspiracies normally, but there are too many things here that raise my suspicions.

Cheers, Derek

Springer is to Kingston what Potter was to Bedford Falls.

The question is: who is our George Bailey? It isn't Rosen...

I'm sure Kingston has it's share of George Bailey's who try to help others and never seem to get what it is they are truly searching for in life, always feeling stuck in Kingston (errr...Bedford Falls).

well I'm not trying to toot my own horn but the other day I had a plane ticket to LA in my hands and it actually burst into flames!

:)

you're right, we have many George Baileys. Now if we could only get all of them in one room.... (this forum proves it may be impossible)

LALALALA Land?! :)

Are you saying we're all George Baileys? ;) Would you characterize him as a tragic hero? Works hard. Helps others. He was suicidal though, right?

And back to the comparison of Springer being Potter...didn't Potter steal a bunch of money?

D.

PS Maybe we should move our posts to the "chat" section. SLN - Perhaps your response should go there under a new thread (my suggestion...A Beautiful Life...or maybe Pottersville).

In a city that can afford it.
