What has happened to posting all the schedules with the agenda on the city website?

"Electronic copies of the schedules for this agenda are not available. To obtain a copy of the complete agenda, contact the Council Support Division at 546-4291, extension 1212. "

Isn't the city supposed to be expanding online services and access to information?

The democratic process in our city government seems to heading in a more constrained and obscure direction under the leadership of our new mayor.

Delegations to City Council will be limited under the new Procedural By-law; agenda information will not be released until the last moment possible; and supporting documents to Council seem to be completely unavailable at any time. In addition, none of the core planning documents, including planning or committee of adjustment applications, are available online at the City's web site.

None of these trends are a good start for our new City Council. Many new members of Council made statements during the recent election about a more approachable and inclusive approach to local government. Are they already slipping away from these onjectives?

How can either City Council members or the public engage in any informed discussion or debate on local issues without the appropriate information at hand?

I think that the less they allow the public to know, our mayor and the incompetant councillors have to answer to. Unfortunitly I can not really express what I think of most of our elected officials, I would be kicked off this site. Then again, I think ask myself why bother.................these darn people actually voted for these fools and start to complain one month later......

Apparently there is a "technical issue" preventing supporting documents from being scanned to the website and they will be returning when that is resolved.

It's hard to imagine any issue with scanning could take weeks (dec 2 meeting last availabe schedules) to resolve for something pretty important...Staples is only a few blocks away! Goodluck with online payment services ever appearing.

It sounds like we need to give some folks a simple lesson in scanning and Adobe PDF file conversion.

But there may be a more basic problem here. The City does not seem to require that both its staff and outside contractors provide all new documents in PDF file format. This would limit the number of documents that have to be scanned each week.

Hay Hay Hay, Don't blame the people here on how they voted. They didn't know these were jerks??? Well Ok I did but they didn't.:D :D

I believe something that was written in an article. We Vote people OUT, we DON'T vote them in. That is the problem when we can't depend on our local newspapers to give us complete info on these people who are running.

As a voter, These councilors wrote wonderful stuff in their pamphets. TOO BAD they didn't practice what they preached.

The people want OPEN COMMUNICATION with their representatives. However, councilors have NOT promoted district meetings on a month basis. Until that is done, we the public will ALWAYS feel that they are trying to censur us and that they don;t give a dam about what they do next.

What was supposed to be a one-week delay while the new part for our scanner was on order blossomed into a much longer delay. However, alternative means of obtaining the documents were provided, either by mail, fax or email. And now that the scanned agendas are back on the website, I'm not hearing any appreciation or thanks. Seems like we're damned if we do and damned if we don't.
