Does anyone know if the newly proposed standing committees of Kingston city council will have any public members?

With what happened at the council meeting where the members of the community were elected by the councillors, I would doubt that the general public will ever stand a chance to participate in this city........as long as a certain Mayor and certain councillors are present. That evening councill had no idea who was qualified and who was not............it was mostly all favors or people who have been on a committee for the longest time and the name was recognized. The public was invited to send a letter to the clerk and to briefly outline why they would be qualified...........the funny part is that the councillors actually never read these...........some of the councillors actually had the nerve to urge the others to support certain people. Then there are councillors like Meers who was staring off into space and missed on voting 1/2 the time.....what a city.

A prime example is Rosen appointing his buddies to that committee regarding the new arena facility (you know, the one to replace the m centre for a hockey team that can not sell out the current facility..... but apparently we need another). The public was never asked to submit anything in order to become a committee member. I wonder if any of those people donated the max to his campaign??????????

And why the heck is this site so focused on the new arena study?

I am a little fed up with the whole thing.

The volunteers at Kingston Electors share the concern of many Kingston residents about whether the redevelopment of the Memorial Centre should be a priority for the City of Kingston.

We would like to encourage discussion, and the review of pertinent documents, to help Kingstonions to decide if the development of the Memorial Centre should be given a high priority by Kingston City Council.

Where did the arenas place on the citizens priority list......not even close to the top. It is the Rosen supporters who are making it a priority.....who also happen to be part of this site
