Kingston 2000 Multi-use Facility Public Meeting

A public meeting and open house is scheduled for Tuesday, November 23 in Memorial Hall, City Hall, to hear comments from residents about the proposed Kingston 2000 Multi-Use Facility.

Unveiled at the November 9th Kingston City Council meeting, the proposed development would see the now-vacant Block D on Kingston's waterfront be turned into a major convention/conference, entertainment, hospitality and recreational complex. The initial concept calls for a 6,000-seat auditorium, a 1200 seat Performing Arts Centre, Conference/Trade Show facilities for up to 2500 delegates, a 250 suite four star hotel, as well as condominium, commercial, retail and restaurant space, a marina and community space.

The second component of the concept focuses on the 401 corridor running through the City. This phase of the development would see the creation of a sports and entertainment centre to serve Kingston and provide easy access for visitors from the surrounding region. The complex would include a four-pad arena, a 32 lane-bowling centre, restaurant/banquet facilities, a movie complex, and an interactive games centre.

The City of Kingston encourages interested residents to participate in this important public consultation meeting. The Multi Use Facility open house commences from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday November 23rd. The public meeting will commence at 7:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall, City Hall.
