Well folks, as you know this October the residents in your district will be voting for Council officials; Mayor's position and a District Councilor's position.

As I am able to get information about all your candidates, I will be happy to post the information from their election material on this thread for you. I will only share information that I have given by candidates. Below's thread is information about one of your candidates looking to fill the councilor's position, Mark Gerresten, has done a wonderful service as the past councilor and I look forward to his Mayority race.

His shoes will be difficult to fill. However, what I know of Harold Hemburger, is this. This young man is very dedicated to servicing his district. He not only cares about his district but also the city as a whole. He wasn't afraid to be pleasant and welcoming to everyone who is running for council. He is a very caring family man. He is also very knowledgable about issues that present themselves at council, within our province, country and also what happens on the interenational scene. Therefore I wish him the best of luck in his endeavor

City Issues

Economic Development—This is an issue that we have to take seriously. In this economy we have to welcome economic development more than we ever did before. This can range from attracting new business to attracting and keeping events that will bring in a positive economic benefit to our community.

Third Crossing— This is a project that I believe we should finally take action on. I believe that a third crossing would reduce traffic congestion on both sides of the Cataraqui River. This could decrease transit times across the river and also reduce emissions around the downtown area.. However, this is a project that must have a firm commitment from federal funding.

Downtown – A vibrant downtown is important to any community. I will work with the city to try and make parking easier , I also believe we need to make an effort to make downtown cleaner through using locking trash receptacles and recycling containers.
Control Taxes—Work with the city to have a sense of fiscal responsibility

Portsmouth Issues
Roads—Just like any district we have road conditions that need to be tended to. The most widely known problems are mainly in the village area as well as Queen Mary Rd. Parts of Mowat Ave are slated to be repaired this year.
Students—Work towards build-ing a positive relation between students and residents .
Suggestions that encourages growth, friendlier, healthier, and encouraging relationship between all residents in my district are welcomed
