Welcome to my website!
Hello, my name is Kevin George and I wish to be your representative on City Council. What I find special about Kingston is its geographical location as the centre of Eastern Ontario between Ottawa and Toronto. Our citizens can enjoy many sports and recreational activities not available in other cities because of our location along Lake Ontario, the Rideau Canal and the St. Lawrence River. We are a City rich in history and culture. We have an active arts community and our history, as evident by our many heritage buildings, some over 200 years old are obvious for everyone to enjoy. With your support we can continue to be proud of our City and what it offers. We can continue to make others envious of what we enjoy and they can only dream of. I invite you to read through the literature provided on this website. I hope that we share the view of prosperity for our community as it is important to maintain a vibrant City, accessible for all to enjoy. With your support on Monday October 25th, 2010 I can look forward to working on your behalf to make our dreams a reality.
About Kevin
I am a lifelong resident of Kingston and my family can trace its roots to the Kingston community back over seven generations. Together with my wife Joanne, we raised our children in this beautiful city and are now proud grandparents to three energetic girls. The Loyalist-Cataraqui district is our home and I hope it will be my privilege to represent you on the next City Council. As a parent and a grandparent, I care deeply about our west-end community. I care about safety on our streets and sidewalks; I care about the quality of our parks and recreational areas; I care about providing local opportunities for our youth so they are not tempted to move away as soon as they complete school; and I care about the quality of life of our senior citizens. In short, I care about this District. I care about Kingston’s place as the cultural jewel in Eastern Ontario and its potential as an academic, communications, transportation and environmental centre of excellence in this province. I care about my community and that is why I have served as a politician, a community volunteer and a coach in many youth sports. My background in politics includes two terms on Kingston City Council (2000-2006) and, prior to amalgamation, I served on the Kingston Township Council (1995-1997). While on Kingston City Council I was a member of several committees including; the City of Kingston Planning Committee, the Cataraqui Regional Conservation Authority, the Infrastructure and Transportation Policies Committee and the Rural/Urban Liaison Committee, to name just a few. One of my most memorable times was serving as the Chair of the committee overseeing the development and construction of our west-end Invista Centre, a project that was completed on time, on budget and without controversy. This is an example of the leadership I can bring to City Council as your representative.
Goals
I have a track record of sound judgement and effective decision-making. As the Chair on various committees, I’ve developed my skills as a communicator and, most importantly as a listener. For me, it is fundamentally important to listen to and understand competing viewpoints. I do not pretend to know what is best for people without first taking the time to know how they feel about certain issues. As your Councillor, I will make myself available to the residents of Loyalist-Cataraqui to learn of your concerns and to discuss your ideas for making our District an even better one in which to live and raise our families. Leading up to this election, I will be travelling throughout our District, trying to meet as many of you as I can to discuss your ideas and your concerns. How can I do otherwise if I hope to represent your interests at City Council? As your representative on City Council, I will work hard to assist my political colleagues and City Staff in bringing new jobs to the City. I believe we all have a significant role to play in developing an economic “action plan” and should I have the honour of representing you at City Council, I look forward to meeting with you on a regular basis to discuss how we can make our District and this City an even better place to live. As I’ve said, effective communications is the key component in politics. We have seen politicians who spend more time speaking than listening; more time shouting for attention than earning respect. I believe my quiet, thoughtful approach to “getting the job done” worked well in the past and it is my leadership style that our City Council needs more of in the future.
Contact Kevin
I invite you to contact me at your earliest opportunity so that I can learn about what is important to you while providing you with an opportunity to assess my ability to represent you on City Council. I would be happy to meet with you as individuals or in groups. Let us work together to make Kingston a great place to live, work, play and raise our families.

I am totally in support of Kevin George as Councilor for the District Loyalist Cataraqui. Kevin was a previous councilor for this district. As a follower of Council, and following issues that Kevin George supported, I found him to be creditable, fiscial responsible. open minded and willing to discuss issues in full during council meetings.
What I totally, enjoyed was Kevin's way of chairing a committee meeting of any kind. Kevin always ALWAYS conducted the meetings fairly and in business manner. What makes him stand out for me is that he always allowed the PUBLIC who were always welcomed to watch events unfold. The public had the opportunity to indicate where they stood on issues and indicate which committee member actually represents the ordinary person's views.
Every meeting Kevin chaired, had 15 minutes dedicated at the end of the committee's meeting to hear from the people who were not on the committee. Every meeting was complete open to the public. This allowed people who were for or against an issue the opportunity to address the committees that Kevin chaired. During council meetings, Kevin accurately represented the views of standing committees and any other committees he chaired.
Kevin, knows more about this city than most councilors because of his work experiences, his service on council, and as a resident of his district. He is not afraid to allow the public to speak. He always followed up on ordinary complains from citizens and always got back to them.
