Dear MPNA people,

Have you seen the new playground equipment yet? Let me know what you think because I won't be back in town to see it myself for another couple of weeks.

Given the number of talented writers and performers in the neighborhood - both budding and well-established - I thought some of you might be interested in the following events:

Barefoot Players Block Party
Saturday, August 15

Come and join the Barefoot Players for a day of fun, games, and performances in McBurney Park! The day will include carnival games, a performance of the Barefoot Players' first show, Myth Takes, an acting workshop for kids run by the Barefoot Players, and a performance of their new show, Martians in the Middle. Plus... a jumping castle?! It's a fun-filled day the whole family will enjoy. Don't miss it!

2:00 pm - Fun and Games
3:30 pm - Performance: MYTH TAKES
4:30 pm - Acting workshop with the Barefoot Players (ages 5 - 10)
7:00 pm - Performance: MARTIANS IN THE MIDDLE

Kingston WritersFest

Spice up your lunch with literature at the Book Lovers Box Lunch, featuring the Dewey Divas. From Thursday to Saturday, the festival offers half-day master classes in writing for the stage and the page for both emerging and seasoned writers. Beyond the basic small kiddy slide and bouncy equip.

Not much was changed out? None of the older swings?

They also did not take out/replace the larger Jungle Gym with the metal slide.

The kids enjoy releasing all their pint size might (using both feet), on the metal slide. When they contact....

Its like a gun going off behind you, when your taking a mid day Sunday nap!

GET RID, REPLACE THAT SLIDE!

Who is in charge at McBurney Park Association? - i.e of dealing with the City???????????????????
i.e getting the proper equipment - changed in that park??? Road safety, area capacity building?

Because it seems: for all these so called great "Neighbourhood Association Initiatives",
e.g Alma's one lane road, to Park tree planting.

Both these "Main Association Initiatives" - are incomplete, undermined - fiasco's.

Alma St. is now a giant (free) parking lot (all day, night) for Providence Manor employees.

Their car alarms, their morning smokes and the lack of regular parking on that street now...
is a complete pain in the butt. (Let alone the safety issue of speeders on that now blinded one lane!)

How does this HELP the entire neighbourhood community?

The right hand does not seem to know, communicate or respond to any of McBurney Parks residence wishes.

Their knee jerk (save the world) T.O ideas, end up costing the area and its citizens more than leaving things ALONE! Or at least survey the neighbourhood in terms of long term "needs", officially. Not just a town meeting once a year.

Why do we have an Association when nothing gets done properly (for all the residences)

Just the artsy, cliche groups...seem to get their way.

Nothing ever changes for the working stiff's or long time residents?

I suspect with the constant "rotating" volunteer group in the Association, and member bias for the utopia community earthlings types, but what happens is no one really takes responsibility (especially) when it gets more complicated than their "members" want to engage in (time or motivation) They do little research or can follow through for "general improvements".

Seems like from the track record of this group...the ONLY things they are consistent is their agenda"...such as "their" music festival!

I guess when capitalist/income from festivals are on their agenda - they are suddenly get motivated to stick only to what, who they know!

Recently - and again -

Suddenly......more playground equipment has arrived at McBurney Park!

Thanks aIl --I guess for this geodesic hanging type eye sore equip..
that I am sure a kid will be hurting themselves on! Why we cannot get basic swings,

NOT rubber seats ...

Wooden seated swings!

Thats all we need.
