Why oh why is not the end of North Street and the path down from North beside Rideaucrest down to Fluhrer park, recognized as a park or at least a pathway? The city is using it as a dump for gravel and the neighbouring condo uses it in the winter as a place to dump snow, It is getting hard to go down.

Well gosh darn, all this time I thought that was the city's 'mountain climbing zone! We need to look into this to see what the plans, immediate or otherwise, are for this rubble area. AS is, it seems almost too steep for a paved extension of the street - would we like nice wide stairs?

The gravel has been leveled only to make room for the parking of 5 more cars.
look at the path from Sydenham St to Montreal St. at the other end of north
St. it also goes down quite a hill. Can't we do that again?

Well, the word from city Hall is that the conceptual plan shows a link from North St , crossing over Wellington to Flyhrer Park. I guess that is the good news.
The not-so good news is that this is several years in the future, to happen when the Wellington St. extension is built.

So ...what do we do in the meantime?

Given that this has been a much neglected part of town even though it has this potentially lovely waterfront resource, perhaps we should start a gentle but persistent campaign to make that area passable, NOW. People coming from Rideau Street and beyond need a transfer point where they do not have to be wearing pit boots and crawling on all fours to make it down to the park.

Asking for an interim arrangement is not asking for too much, we think. So we humbly suggest that those of you who are keen to see a modest improvement at this point, contact the Parks Department and ask that a reasonable passage way be created to link North St to the park.

We will try to keep you posted if we see something happening there.
