MPNA: parking meeting, spring clean-up and festivals in the park
Hello MPNA members,
Please mark your calendars...
April 14th: Residential On-Street Parking Pilot Project
A public meeting and presentation outlining the City's residential on-street parking pilot project will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 5 p.m. at Portsmouth Olympic Harbour, 53 Yonge St. The six-month pilot project offering residents in the area of Sydenham Ward on-street parking permits is set to begin in June. This public meeting is part of the regularly scheduled Environment, Infrastructure and Transportation Policies (EITP) meeting. For more information on this project go to www.cityofkingston.ca/residentialonstreet.
Our City Councillor, Rob Hutchison, has suggested to the EITP Committee and City staff that several streets in near the park (i.e. Sydenham St.-Balaclava-Patrick-Raglan-
Division-Colborne) would benefit from this program. Rob recommends that we share our opinions on this issue at the public meeting on April 14th. The more support we get from King's Town District, the easier it will be to spread the program to our District if the pilot project is successful.
April 26th: McBurney Park Spring Clean-Up
Grab your gloves and rake and join us for the annual spring park clean-up on Sunday, April 26th starting at 10:00. Pack a picnic lunch for afterwards if you're so inclined.
June 6: Birth Fest
The first ever Birth Fest will be held in McBurney Park on Saturday, June 6th from 10 am - 2 pm. Birth Fest is a day set aside to celebrate all aspects of pregnancy, birth and parenting. It is an opportunity for women and families to connect with each other, local groups, maternity service providers, professionals and businesses. Festivities include musical entertainment, fun activities for the kids, and a picnic.
June 9: Skeleton Park Music Festival Fund Raising Concert
The SPMF organizers will be hosting a very special fund raising concert at Kingston's newest venue, The Mansion, on Tuesday, June 9th at 9pm. Ten of Kingston's finest bands will perform the 10 tracks from The Velvet Underground's classic album, "Loaded". Tickets $5 at Brian's Records, $10 at the door.
June 17-20: Skeleton Park Music Festival
This year's festival will be running from June 17-20 (Saturday, June 20th in the Park). For more info. please visit: www.skeletonparkmusicfestival.ca.
See you in the park!
