MPNA update - Annual General Meeting, miscellaneous announcements

Hello all,

* Mark your calendars -- the McBurney Park Neighborhood Association's
Annual General Meeting is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 24, from 7 p.m.
to 9 p.m. at the Renaissance Event Venue, 285 Queen St. (NOT, repeat
NOT, at the Artillery Park Aquatic Centre, as was previously
announced). We will go over the past year's events and accomplishments
Tthere are a lot! We will welcome our new co-coordinators for
2008-2009. If you have any neighborhood issues or concerns that would
would like to see on the evening's agenda, please send them to me ASAP
at alecross@sympatico.ca.

* Many thanks to everyone who came to the Halloween gathering in
McBurney Park. I didn't do a head count, but I'd guesstimate there
were between 250 and 300 people there, mostly in costume, our best
turnout ever! Here's hoping we get the same fabulous weather next year.

* This news comes to you late: MPNA member Maggie Hogan, a fine
artist, and her daughter Lucy are offering arts classes for children.
The classes take place at Maggie's home on Markland Ave. Although the
fall session is almost over, another eight-week session starts in
January. For more information, call Maggie at 613-544-9958 or email
her at newhog@sympatico.ca. Here is her advert:

* I don't usually do this, but .... Melissa De Sousa, a student at
Centennial College in Toronto, will be doing a four-month internship
at the Whig-Standard beginning in January. She is looking for a place
to stay, preferably an apartment in the McBurney Park area. Her budget
is about $750 monthly, and she needs a parking spot for her car. If
you can help her out, please contact her at mddesousa@gmail.com.

This will be my final coordinator's message to you, as I will be
passing the torch to new coordinators at the AGM. It's been an
immensely enjoyable two years. I've learned a lot about the
neighborhood and the city, had fun and met some wonderful people.
Thanks to all of you for your encouragement and support * and, most
of all, for helping to make our neighborhood such a great place to live!

All the best,

Alec
