Drawing upon the experiences of North American and European cities that are striving to be "green" and sustainable and at the same time healthier environments for their residents, Professor Beatley examines the relationship between urban sustainability and public health and, from this, argues that sustainable, green cities are indeed essential for healthy communities and healthy lives."
