TO ALL FRIENDS OF THE TETT

April 21, 2008

Dear Friends of the Tett,

As you may remember, last year at the Annual General Meeting of the Friends of the Tett, it was decided, that the “Friends” would stay in existence, even though no action might be needed for a while. From this place on the back burner, we just kept the Executive in place, the money in the bank, and the membership list kept up (free this year!). The reason was, that it would be much more complicated to reboot the group from scratch in case of an emergency.

This means that now the time has come for our Annual General Meeting of 2008, which will be held on 7 May 2008 at 6.30 p.m. at the Tett Centre in our beloved Rotunda. A notice is being sent to you today.

We will have two featured speakers, one from the City and one from Queen's. Our featured speaker from the City will be Robin Etherington. She is the City of Kingston Manager of Culture and Heritage, and has been involved in the proceedings around the new plans for the entire Morton Street area from the very beginning. She is an excellent speaker, and will be able to keep us abreast of where we stand as of now, in “our” Tett Centre Building, as well as how town and gown deal with the plans for the remainder of the parcel of land.

Our featured speaker from Queen's is Tim Fort, Head of the Drama Department since 2001. He is deeply involved in the plans that Queen's has for the Morton Street area, and will be able to let us know how far these plans have evolved as to Performing Arts Centre, Music School, rehearsal spaces, etc., and in which direction they are going.

Tim Fort has only limited time to be with us, so we have set the hour of our meeting forward to 6.30. We will start right on time, and have the two speakers first. A short and simple A.G.M. will follow.

This note is to urge you to come, and also please to bring a friend who is not (yet) a member of the Tett, but who is just like you immensely interested in what is going to be a potentially marvelous Arts and Crafts Centre in the City of Kingston.

If you are the representative of your group in the Tett (or just out of the Tett, Symphony, Domino,
Theatre 5!), please let all your members know about the meeting. It will be informative and pleasant.

The more people we have in the audience, the more our speakers will realize the immense interest in the future of this so wonderful parcel of land, which we hope will have a bright future, that will include all of us.

See you there!

Marion Westenberg
Secretary, Friends of the Tett.
