Kingston City Council will consider the following motion at its meeting to be held on February 19, 2008.

MOTIONS
(3) Moved by Councillor Osanic
Seconded by Councillor Matheson
WHEREAS the Kingston Environmental Advisory Forum (KEAF) is a committee of Council with a mandate to respond to Council requests for advice and with a complement of community and technical members with diverse expertise;
and,
WHEREAS there are a number of issues relating to Council's sustainability agenda for which the advice of KEAF would be valuable;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council requests that the Kingston Environmental Advisory Forum:
(a) provides comments, through its Inner Harbour Working Group, on the City of Kingston Draft Official Plan, section
3.9 "Water Area" and the "Inner Harbour Secondary Plan", to the Planning Committee at its earliest convenience;
(b) provides recommendations to the Environment, Infrastructure and Transportation Policies Committee on how the
City could be involved in this year's GreenUp! Festival, scheduled for March 30, 2008, at the Biosciences Building, Queen's University;
(c) provides recommendations to the Environment, Infrastructure and Transportation Policies Committee concerning
the public education component of:
i) the proposed plastic bag ban by-law
ii) the vehicle idling by-law review
iii) and the pesticide ban for cosmetic purposes by-law; and,
(d) provides the Focus Kingston Steering Committee with any advice it feels is relevant pertaining to its sustainability
agenda, including suggestions for priority actions.
