Subject: MPNA alert -- Annual General Meeting, Art on the Street
From: Alec Ross
Date: October 15, 2007
Hello everyone,
The McBurney Park Neighborhood Association (MPNA) will hold its 2007 annual general meeting on Monday, Nov. 12, from 7 - 9 p.m. at the Artillery Park Aquatic Centre.
The format of this year's meeting will be a bit different from previous years. As usual, the coordinator (me) and the various committee chairs will report on their activities in 2007. After that, meeting attendees will separate into small "breakout groups", each of which will discuss and report on a variety of issues that have been forwarded to me by MPNA members (thanks to everyone who contributed ideas!). So far, these issues include:
• Improvement of Friendship Park (off Carlyle St.)
• Bake oven in McBurney Park
• New playground equipment in McBurney Park
• Homeless people in the park
• Legal incorporation of the MPNA
If you have ideas for other discussion topics, please forward them to me. The hope is that these groups will form the basis for committees that, over the next year, can work on the issues/projects they've discussed.
The association is also looking for a co-coordinator. If you are interested in this volunteer position or know someone who might be, please let me know.
This is a really important meeting in the evolution our association. If you can possibly attend, please do.

One other notice: The Street Health Centre has organized an art show called "Art on the Street" * a collection of some 200 paintings, drawings, sculpture, etc. created by clients of the Centre. The show is being curated by MPNA member Maggie Hogan, and it runs from Oct. 25 - 28 at 173 Princess St. (between Montreal & Bagot). For more information, please refer to the invitation I've attached to this message, or call 613-549-1440.
That's all for now,
Cheers,
Alec
