Ms. Linda Whitfield, Chair of the Focus Kingston Steering Committee will speak to Council on July 24, 2007 regarding proposed changes to the mandate and reporting structure.
1. Focus Kingston Mandate and Reporting Structure
THAT a by-law be presented to amend Committee By-Law No. 2004-360 at this time as follows:
# To replace the current mandate/terms of reference of Focus Kingston Steering Committee with the following Vision, Mission and Guiding Principles:
Vision: Kingston – Canada’s most sustainable City.
Mission: The Focus Kingston Steering Committee will steward the creation and implementation of a Community Sustainability Plan for the City of Kingston that is based upon good strategic planning, effective community consultation, while continuing to value and respect the interrelationship and importance of the social, cultural, economic and environment dimensions of our city.
Guiding Principles of Focus Kingston:
o To be Stewards of the next phase (phase 3) of the community strategic plan, with an emphasis on sustainability, one that will encompass the multi-faceted Kingston Roundtable Quality of Life components and other viable community strategic planning.
o To provide a Bridge, encouraging and facilitating ongoing communication and partnership between the Corporation, partner community organizations and the public.
# To delete ‘reporting to b) Council (annually)’ and replace it with ‘reporting to b) Council minimally annually’.
# To delete ‘reporting to a) appropriate Standing Committee’.
