Driving in the suburbs requires care and attention given the family orientation of the neighborhoods and the number of children.

Wonder why parking on 90 degree curves is permitted - there shouldn't be any parking in curves (especially 90 degree ones) e.g. at the foot of the hill on Braeside crescent. There is always a car parked right in the middle of the curve - there shouldn't be any parking on either side of the street in front of 611, 615 and 619 Braside and any other such curves in the city. The addresses mentioned all have double car garages and double car driveways - if they must park on the street thay could park on the staight away and walk a few steps for the sake of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

I realize the city's parking division is concerned with safety and parking on city streets.

Hello BackYard Fence

http://kingstonelectors.ca/forums/images/icons/icon7.gif Thanks for you comments re: potential problems with parking of suburban streets that have a significant curve. We have had a chance to chat with the folks at City Hall about this. They have, in some situations, prohibited parking on streets with significant curves and are open to considering more on request. The big problem of course, is enforcement, which for all practical purposes cannot be more than occasional.

If you and some of your neighbours agree that this is a problem that needs to be addressed on the street in question, (Braeside?) I would encourage you to get together with your neighbours, do up a request for the parking prohibitions, indicating the area to be incorporated into the ban, and most important, why you think the ban is needed. Get as many of the neighbours to sign this as you can. This lays a lot of the groundwork for the city.

Good luck with this. It sounds like the city is certainly willing to consider your proposal.
