Build on its history: Create A Vision
For The 21st Century.

The City of Kingston has undertaken a public visioning exercise to get feedback from the community on the future of Lake Ontario Park (LOP).

The project began with an effort to document the park's physical and social history, with citizens being asked to submit their own recollections and photographs of their experiences in the park. This was followed by workshops to help stakeholders and planners zero in on a vision for the park's future. The City contracted Carl Bray & Associates to facilitate the workshops.

On June 23, the Advisory Group hosted an open house (http://www.cityofkingston.ca/cityhall/press/release.asp?mode=show&id=1837) to get public feedback on conceptual plans for Lake Ontario Park. Three concepts — each with an emphasis on different uses and facilities — were presented at the open house. Illustrations of the concepts can be downloaded from this Web site using the links at right.

Citizens are being encouraged to participate in a community survey (http://www.cityofkingston.ca/pdf/recreation/lop/LOP_CommunitySurvey.pdf) [PDF 25KB] through which they can offer their own opinions on the future of the park and on the redevelopment concepts unveiled at the June 23 session.

Completed surveys can be mailed to:
