I am interested in working with someone on a documentary about finding work in Kingston.

This town.. argh! It's so frustrating in terms of finding work. Being a government town, and a union town, it's difficult to get in to any place that has upward mobility, benefits, sick leave, holidays and decent wages. In addition, we seem to have quite a few "job finding" and "work training" types of places, all paid for by the government: KEYS, Skeebo, OK, and likely others, too. A lot of jobs that one might otherwise get are barred due to a requirement that applicants have been on EI in the past three years. Even retail and sales are largely impossible to break into once you've reached the ripe old age of about 30 if your background is not in those trades.

Education and training don't seem to help, unless of course you are a professional such as a doctor or engineer.

I think a film about getting a job - almost ANY job - in Kingston would be entertaining and eye-opening. I'm willing to be one of the subjects out there looking, if anyone else otu there has camera skills and knows about editing.

-- thoughts?

I am sorry to learn that you are looking for work. I wish you success in your search.

Althought, I don't have a camera I thought you might be able to tell us about yourself on here so that one of us could contact you by way of the e-mail on the Kingstone electors site. Don't give out your e-mail on the link because we can contact you directly by using the tools on here.

I'll go first, Are you looking for a career or just a job? What are your skills that you can offer to an employer.

Once the viewers on here know your skills, they might be willing to contact you and give you some leads. You never know who might read this link and call you.

Thank you SLN for being honest. I just want you to remember this:

You are never unemployed. You are a skilled worker in transition. People who wish to help need to know your skills or talents in order to help.

It is your skill sets and talents that will get you what you want.
