What is happening with the Grand Trunk Railway Station on Montreal Street?

It has been sitting in weeds and badly neglected since a fire some years back.

Will it form part of the new K & P Trial facilities for the City?

And has anything ever come of this? I think it's a really neat building (excluding the current tarp and other "temporary" coverings) and would probably make a great community centre or something along those lines.

This may be an issue for Sara Meers in Cataraqui District to follow-up. Apparently the City of Kingston is trying to acquire this site as part of the new 'Kick and Push' trail through the city along the old rail right of way. But there has been no news on this property acquisition since last year.

I understand that the trail will START at Sydenham Road. Could someone please confirm this. WHy not from the downtown station.

The plan calls for the trail to run from City Hall in Kingston to Sharbot Lake. The portion rercently acquired from Bell Canada starts at Sydenham Road. A small piece of a larger pie.

I found the notes on the City of Kingston website.

It actually has a whack of information. It just takes some time to dig it up.

I understand CN or CP have been trying to sell it for some time. Infact, the last few years for one dollar to the City.

But, they did not want the responsibility for the clean up.

I "heard" this a few years ago.

Still no takers...? Go figure.

Old building old problems.
