Letter to Steve Black - member of KCAL....

I hope you had a nice Christmas and best of luck in the New Year.

I had a chance to "check" credentials on some of your KCAL members.

In particular:

Mary Louise Adams -..

Ms. Adams submitted influential but unsubstantiated KCAL "expert advice", research links etc.- to KCAL and web site (and publically) that is the foundation of KCAL's misinformation and general mission statement.

Ms. Adams submissions (to your site) are based on the following research:

1990's US Baseball Stadiums project examples: (2)

- built in large US cities in downtown slum urban areas.
-.with no government funds, available
- no existing mixed community or vibrancy
- no existing infrastructure
- no history /or plans existing fro economic development strategies
- and in an area of complete US urban decay.

She also has admitted: (see below)

The information provided by Ms. Adams is NOT based on a LVEC.

(Nor based on any of the existing economic, cultural or city environment criteria in Kingston, ON Canada)

I am sure you would agree if you have any sense the comparison by
Ms. Adams is like comparing Apples and Oranges.

If you still do not believe this is "verified" with facts:

Below is your main "expert" comments to me (in writing) regarding her contributions to your KCAL committees mandate:

Mary Louise Adams wrote:

"I'm not sure what it says on the KCAL site, but I am an (associate) professor (not a full professor) of sport sociology with no experience working in LVEC-type facilities. My limited 'professional' opinion about the Kingston LVEC are based on my reading of two research papers about the economics of US taxpayer-supported sport facilities."

- Readings are based on large US baseball stadiums in urban US slums areas, which are "mutually exclusive" from anything to do with Kingstons P3 - LVEC. (And such US results - are based on a declining industry through the 1990's) These are the "Skydomes" of that era - NOT small LVEC's)

So, I now have absolute proof you have no experts or "decades of experience" (which you claimed to me) in this or any case: regarding Kingston's LVEC's. or Facilities Management.

So, please when answering my focused questions or issuing "public opinion" (if you or KCAL have NO experience or expertise in such matters)...

...as your mother should have told you!

Please keep your mouth closed and your ears open - then and only then - can you understand the business and experience of running such a facility.

And for KCAL and others: "Business Plans" (are forecasts) they are NOT crystal balls that "tell all".

- They are a general guide. (or weighted - check list)

Traffic studies and parking issues should not be the focus - at this time.

The Design, of a multipurpose facility should be the main focus. It MUST be multifunctional to host Trade Shows, Events and Conferences alike.

I have 20 years experience working with and in a LVEC's, Convention Centres (both producing and operating Events) - KCAL members and most if not all I have met here in Kingston do not have a clue - about such facilities. Kingston has no prior experience with such facilities.
